#### Beyond All Reason - a free, open-source real-time strategy game

Beyond All Reason (BAR) is a free and open-source, community-made
real-time strategy game built on the Recoil (Spring RTS) engine, with
original open assets. This snap packages the official BAR Lobby
(Electron-based launcher/client), which handles logging in, matchmaking,
and downloading/updating the Recoil engine and game content on first run
and whenever new versions are published.

Because the Recoil engine and BAR's maps/game content are updated
frequently and independently of the lobby release cycle, packaging the
official launcher (rather than freezing an engine/content version inside
the snap) is the most maintainable approach, matching how the upstream
project itself recommends distributing BAR.

## Enable snaps on elementary OS and install Beyond All Reason

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.

Snaps are discoverable and installable from the [Snap Store](https://snapcraft.io/store), an app store with an audience of millions.

### Enable snapd

Snap can be installed on elementary OS from the command line. Open *Terminal* from the Applications launcher and type the following:

```
sudo apt update
sudo apt install snapd
```

Either log out and back in again, or restart your system, to ensure snap’s paths are updated correctly.

### Install Beyond All Reason

To install Beyond All Reason, simply use the following command:

```
sudo snap install beyond-all-reason --edge
```
