#### Generate draft snapcraft.yaml files by inspecting your project

draftcraft inspects a project directory instead of handing you a static
template. It reads the project's own manifest (pyproject.toml,
package.json, go.mod, Cargo.toml), extracts name, version, entry points
and dependencies, maps known dependencies to the snap interfaces and
Ubuntu packages they imply, and writes a snapcraft.yaml that is already
mostly correct.

Every value in the generated file carries its confidence: facts read
from your project render as clean YAML, heuristic inferences are marked
'verify:', and placeholders you must fill in are marked 'TODO:'.

## Enable snaps on Pop!\_OS and install draftcraft

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.

Snaps are discoverable and installable from the [Snap Store](https://snapcraft.io/store), an app store with an audience of millions.

### Enable snapd

Snap can be installed on Pop!\_OS from the command line. Open Terminal from the Applications launcher and type the following:

```
sudo apt update
sudo apt install snapd
```

Either log out and back in again, or restart your system, to ensure snap’s paths are updated correctly.

### Install draftcraft

To install draftcraft, simply use the following command:

```
sudo snap install draftcraft
```
