#### Self-hosted real-time collaboration server for Electronic Catalog Maker

Runs a small local server that lets several people edit the same
Electronic Catalog Maker (.ecatm) catalog file at the same time, live —
hotspot edits, table edits, and cursor presence all sync instantly
between everyone connected.

Launch it and a status page opens in your browser showing:

* a local address for collaborators on the same network, and
* a public address (via a temporary Cloudflare Quick Tunnel) for
  collaborators anywhere else — no router configuration, no account,
  no sign-up.

This is a companion tool for the free Electronic Catalog Maker editor
(<https://alexandrkotov.github.io/electronic-catalog-maker/editor/>),
which detects a running server automatically. It has no window of its
own by design — the browser status page is the entire interface, with
a single Stop button.

No files are ever read from or written to disk by this app. A
collaboration session exists only in memory for as long as the server
keeps running; stopping it (or closing the app) discards it completely.

## Enable snaps on elementary OS and install ECM Collaboration Server

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.

Snaps are discoverable and installable from the [Snap Store](https://snapcraft.io/store), an app store with an audience of millions.

### Enable snapd

Snap can be installed on elementary OS from the command line. Open *Terminal* from the Applications launcher and type the following:

```
sudo apt update
sudo apt install snapd
```

Either log out and back in again, or restart your system, to ensure snap’s paths are updated correctly.

### Install ECM Collaboration Server

To install ECM Collaboration Server, simply use the following command:

```
sudo snap install ecm-collab-server
