#### A rest Client for the OpenFEC API

GetOpenFEC is a command line interface (CLI) tool for requesting, parsing and persisting OpenFEC API data.

The purpose of this application is to help developers quickly and reliably access OpenFEC api data in a convenient format.

This application requests, parses and creates a table for only a subset of data from the candidate endpoint. Additional endpoints will be included in the future.

The current release now saves the keyfile to the local filesystem and offers and improved CLI.

An OpenFEC API key and AWS DynamoDB credentials are required to make full use of this application.

This snap application can be installed from your Linux shell. Refer to the installation instructions.

To execute the snap after it has been installed type: `getopenfec`

Open FEC API: <https://api.open.fec.gov/developers/>

Candidate endpoint: <https://api.open.fec.gov/developers/#/candidate>

### Enable snapd

Snap can be installed on elementary OS from the command line. Open *Terminal* from the Applications launcher and type the following:

Either log out and back in again, or restart your system, to ensure snap’s paths are updated correctly.
