#### Create and run virtual machines

Guestbay creates, runs and manages virtual machines on your computer: Windows, Linux and macOS guests, with their
console in the window, snapshots, clones and exports, and access from browsers on your network when you turn it on.

* Linux cloud images start in seconds with your user, SSH key and packages
* Windows 10 and 11 install unattended from Microsoft's ISO, with a TPM for Windows 11
* Older Windows, from Windows 95 to 8.1, installs from your own disc
* Seamless apps: a guest's apps open as windows of their own, and their launchers can sit in your app menu or on your desktop
* Shared folders and copy and paste with each virtual machine
* macOS through OpenCore
* Hardware acceleration with KVM, and forwarded ports with the command to connect

QEMU is included: x86-64, i386, ARM64, ARM, RISC-V 64 and PowerPC 64.

For hardware acceleration, allow Guestbay to use KVM once: sudo snap connect guestbay:kvm

Free to use for 14 days, then a one-time US$29.99 unlock: a licence key for two computers from guestbay.app
(payment through Polar).

Guestbay itself is proprietary software from Ontiqo Pty Ltd. The QEMU inside is free software under the GNU General
Public License, version 2, built from its official source.

## Enable snaps on openSUSE and install Guestbay

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.

Snaps are discoverable and installable from the [Snap Store](https://snapcraft.io/store), an app store with an audience of millions.

### Enable snapd

Snap can be installed from the command line on openSUSE Leap 15.x and Tumbleweed.

You need first add the *snappy* repository from the terminal. Choose the appropriate command depending on your installed openSUSE flavor.

Tumbleweed:

```
sudo zypper addrepo --refresh https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/system:/snappy/openSUSE_Tumbleweed snappy
```

Leap 15.x:

```
sudo zypper addrepo --refresh https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/system:/snappy/openSUSE_Leap_15.6 snappy
```

If needed, Swap out `openSUSE_Leap_15.` for, `openSUSE_Leap_16.0` if you’re using a different version of openSUSE.

With the repository added, import its GPG key:

```
sudo zypper --gpg-auto-import-keys refresh
```

Finally, upgrade the package cache to include the new *snappy* repository:

```
sudo zypper dup --from snappy
```

Snap can now be installed with the following:

```
sudo zypper install snapd
```

You then need to either reboot, logout/login or `source /etc/profile` to have /snap/bin added to PATH.
Additionally, enable and start both the *snapd* and the *snapd.apparmor* services with the following commands:

```
sudo systemctl enable --now snapd
sudo systemctl enable --now snapd.apparmor
```

### Install Guestbay
