#### TUI code editor

**Kode** is a terminal-first code editor packaged from the repository's
Gradle distBundle task. The snap ships the unzipped distribution bundle
plus a bundled JRE 21.

`kode edit <folder-path>` to start editing project in the given folder

`kode cat filename` to print the file in the console using line numbers and simple syntax highlighting (keywords)

**Remote gateway mode**, starts Kode as an web app server, runs on the local machine rendering the local project accessible through a web interface on a remote machine
`kode serve [options] <folder-name>`. Which uses a fork of ttyd with enhanced security features. The gateway options are accessible through `kode serve -h` \_use the parameter username and password on public environments \_

## Enable snaps on Fedora and install kode

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.

Snaps are discoverable and installable from the [Snap Store](https://snapcraft.io/store), an app store with an audience of millions.

### Enable snapd

Snap can be installed on Fedora from the command line:

```
sudo dnf install snapd
```

Either log out and back in again, or restart your system, to ensure snap’s paths are updated correctly.

To enable *classic* snap support, enter the following to create a symbolic link between `/var/lib/snapd/snap` and `/snap`:

```
sudo ln -s /var/lib/snapd/snap /snap
```

### Install kode

To install kode, simply use the following command:

```
sudo snap install kode
```
