mir-test-tools

Alan Griffiths (alangriffiths)

Mir test scripts and applications

Once installed the tests can be run in two modes:

  1. As an application on an X11 supporting desktop:

    $ mir-test-tools.<test>

  2. As "owner" of a virtual terminal:

    $ sudo mir-test-tools.<test>

mir-test-tools.qt-test runs a simple Qt client and reports if it fail

mir-test-tools.sdl2-test runs an SDL2 client and reports if it fail

mir-test-tools.gtk3-test runs a gtk3+ client and reports if it fail

mir-test-tools.performance-test runs the Mir performance tests and reports if any fail

mir-test-tools.basic-test a very simple test to prove that a Mir server and client can be started and connect to each other. (This is mostly legacy as it tests mirclient support, not Wayland.)

mir-test-tools.smoke-test runs each of the example Mir clients and reports any that fail. (This is mostly legacy as it tests mirclient support, not Wayland.)

mir-test-tools.stress-test runs the mir_stress client - adjust the length of the test with --test-timeout <seconds>. (This is mostly legacy as it tests mirclient support, not Wayland.)

mir-test-tools.bash is a debugging aid: it starts a bash session with the environment set up for the tests.

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.

Snaps are discoverable and installable from the Snap Store, an app store with an audience of millions.

Enable snapd

Snap is available for Linux Mint 18.2 (Sonya), Linux Mint 18.3 (Sylvia), and the latest releases, Linux Mint 19 (Tara) and Linux Mint 19.1 (Tessa). You can find out which version of Linux Mint you’re running by opening System info from the Preferences menu. To install snap from the Software Manager application, search for snapd and click Install.

Alternatively, snapd can be installed from the command line:
