Every run becomes its own timestamped snapshot where unchanged files share storage, so you keep full history at almost no extra disk cost. Restore whole snapshots or single files and prune old snapshots with a retention policy. This snap ships the **command-line client only**. The GTK desktop app is distributed as a Flatpak, an AppImage and a .deb — see rsync, the OpenSSH client and rclone are bundled, so every backend works. **Strict confinement.** Your home directory's non-hidden files, external drives and every remote backend work out of the box. To let the bundled ssh use your keys, connect once: ``` snap connect moraine:ssh-keys ``` Backing up top-level dotfiles (~/.config, ~/.gnupg, …) is not yet available in the snap — the `personal-files` interface it needs is awaiting store approval. Until then use the .deb, Flatpak or AppImage if you back those up. Snaps are discoverable and installable from the [Snap Store](https://snapcraft.io/store), an app store with an audience of millions. ### Enable snapd If you’re running [Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus)](https://www.ubuntu.com/) or later, including [Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver)](https://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/features) and [Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa)](https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FocalFossa/ReleaseNotes), you don’t need to do anything. Snap is already installed and ready to go. For versions of Ubuntu between [14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr)](https://wiki.ubuntu.com/TrustyTahr/ReleaseNotes) and [15.10 (Wily Werewolf)](https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WilyWerewolf/ReleaseNotes), as well as Ubuntu flavours that don’t include *snap* by default, *snap* can be installed from the Ubuntu Software Centre by searching for *snapd*.
