#### A full-featured download manager

Motrix is a free, open-source download manager that brings everyday downloads, BitTorrent, and magnet links into one clean desktop app.

Download files over HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP, choose individual files from torrents, and keep track of everything from a customizable dashboard. Motrix 2 adds browser integration, a plugin marketplace, and command-line tools while keeping everyday tasks straightforward.

## Features

* Download multiple files with configurable connections per task.
* Add links in batches, open torrent files, or paste magnet links.
* Choose which files to download from a torrent and manage seeding.
* Pause and resume transfers, with download sessions saved across restarts.
* Set upload and download limits with reusable speed profiles.
* Follow transfer speeds, task progress, and recent activity from the dashboard.
* Manage trackers with automatic updates and health checks.
* Improve peer connectivity with UPnP and NAT-PMP port mapping.
* Customize request headers, User-Agent, and proxy settings.
* Receive completion notifications and access quick actions from the system tray.
* Switch between light and dark themes, with English and Simplified Chinese interfaces.

## Connect your browser

Install the optional Motrix Extension for Chrome, Edge, or Firefox to send downloads to Motrix and manage tasks from your browser. The extension can also discover supported media resources on web pages.

Setup guide: <https://motrix.app/manual/browser-extension/>

## Extend your workflow

Browse the in-app plugin marketplace to add file-naming rules, link extraction, and other download workflows. Plugins run in isolated sandboxes with permissions you review.

The optional @motrix/cli client lets you add downloads, inspect tasks, and monitor progress from your terminal or scripts.

## Snap permissions

To save downloads to external drives mounted under /media, /run/media, or /mnt, connect the removable-media interface:

```
 sudo snap connect motrix:removable-media
```

## Enable snaps on Kubuntu and install Motrix

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.

Snaps are discoverable and installable from the [Snap Store](https://snapcraft.io/store), an app store with an audience of millions.

### Enable snapd

If you’re running [Kubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus)](https://kubuntu.org/) or later, including [Kubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver)](https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BionicBeaver/ReleaseNotes/Kubuntu) and [Kubuntu 18.10 (Cosmic Cuttlefish)](https://wiki.ubuntu.com/CosmicCuttlefish/ReleaseNotes/Kubuntu), you don’t need to do anything. Snap is already installed and ready to go.

Versions of Kubuntu between [14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr)](https://kubuntu.org/news/kubuntu-14-04-lts) and [15.10 (Wily Werewolf)](https://kubuntu.org/news/kubuntu-15-10) don’t include *snap* by default, but *snap* can be installed from the command line as follows:

```
sudo apt update
sudo apt install snapd
```

### Install Motrix

To install Motrix, simply use the following command:

```
sudo snap install motrix
```
