#### A free, open source, powerful tool for working with messy data

OpenRefine is a powerful tool for working with messy data:
cleaning it; transforming it from one format into another; and extending it with web services and external data.
OpenRefine always keeps your data private on your own computer until you want to share or collaborate. Your private data never leaves your computer unless you want it to. (It works by running a small server on your computer and you use your web browser to interact with it)

Usage:
You can start this snap by using the commands **refine** or **openrefine**. As of now you need to visit the url 127.0.0.1:3333 afterwards to use it!

## Enable snaps on Pop!\_OS and install OpenRefine

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.

Snaps are discoverable and installable from the [Snap Store](https://snapcraft.io/store), an app store with an audience of millions.

### Enable snapd

Snap can be installed on Pop!\_OS from the command line. Open Terminal from the Applications launcher and type the following:

```
sudo apt update
sudo apt install snapd
```

Either log out and back in again, or restart your system, to ensure snap’s paths are updated correctly.

### Install OpenRefine

To install OpenRefine, simply use the following command:

```
sudo snap install openrefine
```
