#### PDFtk Server

PDFtk is a command-line tool commonly used for server-side processing of PDFs.

**Before using it**

After installation, this snap will work without further configuration.

For a better user experience with this tool, you probably want to set up an alias to make the command shorter. Simply execute

`snap alias pdftk-snap pdftk`

However, due to Snap's strict confinement, you can only access PDF files that are in your home folder.

If you want to access PDF files located on removable media, you will need to connect the `removable-media` interface to this snap. Simply run

`snap connect pdftk-snap:removable-media`

**How to use it**

For a better comprehension of the tool, run

`pdftk-snap.pdftk --help`

or after you set up the alias

`pdftk --help`

## Enable snaps on Debian and install PDFtk

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.

### Enable snapd

On Debian 9 (Stretch) and newer, snap can be installed directly from the command line:

```
sudo apt update
sudo apt install snapd
```

After this, install the snapd snap in order to get the latest snapd:

```
sudo snap install snapd
```

### Install PDFtk

To install PDFtk, simply use the following command:

```
sudo snap install pdftk-snap
```
