#### YouTube and SoundCloud playlist downloader, MP3 or video

A playlist downloader for Linux: a YouTube playlist downloader, a SoundCloud playlist
downloader and a Bandcamp album downloader in one app. Search YouTube playlists by
keyword, or paste a playlist link from YouTube, YouTube Music, SoundCloud, Bandcamp,
Vimeo, Mixcloud, Dailymotion, Twitch and hundreds of other sites, pick the items you
want and download the whole playlist as video or audio: playlist to MP3, YouTube
playlist to MP3, or MP4, MKV and WebM up to 4K.

**Find a playlist**

* Search YouTube playlists by keyword, with suggestions as you type.
* Paste a playlist link from any site the download engine reads, or a link to a single
  video or track.
* Browse the playlist: every item with its thumbnail and length, pick the ones you want,
  select a range, filter and sort.

**Play**

* A built-in browser for any site: sign in once, watch without ads, open pages in tabs,
  go full screen, and download what the page shows with one button.

**Download**

* Save the selected items as MP4, MKV or WebM up to 4K, or audio only as MP3, M4A, Opus,
  FLAC or WAV, with subtitles, cover art and metadata embedded on request.
* A playlist file (M3U8) next to the downloaded files, so your music player plays the
  whole playlist offline in order.
* A queue that pauses, resumes and retries, files sorted into a folder per playlist and
  numbered in playlist order, notifications with Show in folder.
* The download engine sets itself up on first use and keeps itself updated. Your sign-ins
  are reused, so members-only and age-restricted items download too.

**Made for the desktop**

* Light and dark themes, a tray icon, taskbar progress, native Wayland and X11.
* An alternative to 4K Video Downloader, 4K YouTube to MP3, JDownloader and online
  playlist to MP3 converters, with no ads and no watermarks.
* Single instance: `playlist-dl <link>` opens the link, `playlist-dl --download <link>`
  queues it.

## Enable snaps on openSUSE and install Playlist-Dl - Download & Play Playlists

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.

Snaps are discoverable and installable from the [Snap Store](https://snapcraft.io/store), an app store with an audience of millions.

### Enable snapd

Snap can be installed from the command line on openSUSE Leap 15.x and Tumbleweed.

You need first add the *snappy* repository from the terminal. Choose the appropriate command depending on your installed openSUSE flavor.

Tumbleweed:

```
sudo zypper addrepo --refresh https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/system:/snappy/openSUSE_Tumbleweed snappy
```

Leap 15.x:

```
sudo zypper addrepo --refresh https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/system:/snappy/openSUSE_Leap_15.6 snappy
```

If needed, Swap out `openSUSE_Leap_15.` for, `openSUSE_Leap_16.0` if you’re using a different version of openSUSE.

With the repository added, import its GPG key:

```
sudo zypper --gpg-auto-import-keys refresh
```

Finally, upgrade the package cache to include the new *snappy* repository:

```
sudo zypper dup --from snappy
```

Snap can now be installed with the following:

```
sudo zypper install snapd
```

You then need to either reboot, logout/login or `source /etc/profile` to have /snap/bin added to PATH.
Additionally, enable and start both the *snapd* and the *snapd.apparmor* services with the following commands:

```
sudo systemctl enable --now snapd
sudo systemctl enable --now snapd.apparmor
```
