#### Export iscsi metrics to Prometheus

The prometheus-iscsi-exporter snap exposes high level ISCSI metrics to Prometheus.

**Metrics**

---

Metrics are scrapped from the snap's `$SNAP_DATA` directory (`/var/snap/prometheus-iscsi-exporter/current`).

Multipath command output should be written to `$SNAP_DATA/multipath`.

**Multipath Device Total**

---

The total number of devices setup to use multipath. This is a gauge metric, and it is exported with the name
`iscsi_multipath_device_total`.

**Multipath Number of Paths**

---

The number of paths per device. This is a gauge metric, and it is exported with the name `iscsi_multipath_path_total`.
Each metric is labeled with the device's `alias` and `wwid`.

## Enable snaps on elementary OS and install prometheus-iscsi-exporter

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.

### Enable snapd

Snap can be installed on elementary OS from the command line. Open *Terminal* from the Applications launcher and type the following:

```
sudo apt update
sudo apt install snapd
```

Either log out and back in again, or restart your system, to ensure snap’s paths are updated correctly.

### Install prometheus-iscsi-exporter

To install prometheus-iscsi-exporter, simply use the following command:

```
sudo snap install prometheus-iscsi-exporter
```
