#### App to control your LED-matrix device

Control your own LED matrix hardware, which can display a wide range of informations: Music played from Roon, Apple Music or Spotify, weather data, RSS feeds, custom text messages, and more. The RoonMatrix is a free maker project, and describes step by step how to build your own LED matrix display hardware. And with this app you can configure your hardware extensively, and specify from which sources the text to display is composed. With the app you can send text messages directly to your device, control the display speed, brightness and much more.

The app is designed to control the following devices:

Roonmatrix, a free Maker project: a device with an big LED matrix to displaying the music currently playing as a scrolling ticker, to selecting the zone, and to controlling the playback mode.

Coverplayer, a free maker project: a small device with a square color LCD display to showing the album cover, selecting the zone, controlling the playback mode, and searching the music libraries.

New in V1.2.0 of the app:
It offers now extended support for the latest features of Roonmatrix and Coverplayer:

* Configuration of the Coverplayer virtual keyboard with multilingual support and individual key assignment.
* Marking of covers with platform logo in the cover view.
* Improved detection of zone status and display in the cover view (paused, inactive zone).

Version 1.1.0 - a big update:

* Support for CoverPlayer device (free maker project (coming soon): a device with color lcd display to show the album cover of playing track in selected zone, select zone, and control play mode).
* Zone cover area: a zones overview with cover and play control at the bottom row below device list, animated if new zones available or removed.
* device scan extremely faster now.
* smoothly scrolling zone text ticker which displays information about playing zones (artist, album, track) now glitch-free (updates behind visible area).
* communication between app and device changed from timed pull requests to websockets for faster reaction on zone updates.
* button row (in bottom area, right from export button) to start Spotify or Apple Music app.

## Enable snaps on Manjaro Linux and install roonmatrix

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.

Snaps are discoverable and installable from the [Snap Store](https://snapcraft.io/store), an app store with an audience of millions.

### Enable snapd

Snapd can be installed from Manjaro’s Add/Remove Software application (Pamac), found in the launch menu. From the application, search for *snapd*, select the result, and click Apply.

Alternatively, *snapd* can be installed from the command line:

```
sudo pacman -S snapd
```

Once installed, the *systemd* unit that manages the main snap communication socket needs to be enabled:

```
sudo systemctl enable --now snapd.socket
```

To enable *classic* snap support, enter the following to create a symbolic link between `/var/lib/snapd/snap` and `/snap`:

```
sudo ln -s /var/lib/snapd/snap /snap
```

Either log out and back in again, or restart your system, to ensure snap’s paths are updated correctly.

### Install roonmatrix

To install roonmatrix, simply use the following command:

```
sudo snap install roonmatrix
```
