#### Email, calendar and tasks for Microsoft 365 and IMAP

Simson Desk is a desktop email, calendar and task client. It works with
Microsoft 365, signing in with your Microsoft account, and with any mailbox
that speaks IMAP and SMTP — Google Workspace, Zoho, Titan and most business
hosts. It keeps a local copy of your mail so it stays fast and readable
offline.

* Mail with conversation threading, rules, folders and multi-select
* Calendar and Microsoft To Do tasks
* Address book built from your contacts, your organisation's directory and
  the people you actually write to
* Remote images blocked until you allow them; links open in your browser
* Save attachments, and save a message as .eml, .html or .pdf
* Colour themes that can change by day or between working and off days
* The local copy encrypted at rest, with the key held in your system keyring
* Locks itself when left idle, and needs a fresh sign-in to reopen

One step after installing, until the store grants it automatically:

```
 sudo snap connect simson-desk:password-manager-service
```

That is what lets Simson Desk keep your sign-in in the system keyring. Without
it there is nowhere to put your tokens and the app asks you to sign in on every
launch. Everything else connects on install.

## Enable snaps on Fedora and install Simson Desk

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.

Snaps are discoverable and installable from the [Snap Store](https://snapcraft.io/store), an app store with an audience of millions.

### Enable snapd

Snap can be installed on Fedora from the command line:

```
sudo dnf install snapd
```

Either log out and back in again, or restart your system, to ensure snap’s paths are updated correctly.

To enable *classic* snap support, enter the following to create a symbolic link between `/var/lib/snapd/snap` and `/snap`:

```
sudo ln -s /var/lib/snapd/snap /snap
```

### Install Simson Desk

To install Simson Desk, simply use the following command:

```
