#### Headless CLI / daemon for the socks5vpn P2P SOCKS5 proxy

Command-line and daemon flavour of the socks5vpn peer-to-peer
SOCKS5 proxy network. Acts as a SOCKS5 client that tunnels
traffic through reachable peers, or — when explicitly enabled —
as a SOCKS5 exit peer for others.

The bundled background service is disabled by default and only
starts after the operator opts in, so the host never relays
traffic for other peers without consent.

The companion graphical desktop client is published under the
name `socks5vpnui` (same Snap Store publisher) — install that
one if you prefer a GUI.

## Enable snaps on Pop!\_OS and install socks5vpn Daemon

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.

Snaps are discoverable and installable from the [Snap Store](https://snapcraft.io/store), an app store with an audience of millions.

### Enable snapd

Snap can be installed on Pop!\_OS from the command line. Open Terminal from the Applications launcher and type the following:

```
sudo apt update
sudo apt install snapd
```

Either log out and back in again, or restart your system, to ensure snap’s paths are updated correctly.

### Install socks5vpn Daemon

To install socks5vpn Daemon, simply use the following command:

```
sudo snap install socks5vpnd
```
