**SpeedX** shows how fast your internet really is, and what your computer is
doing, in one clean, lightweight app.

**Features:**

**Internet speed test**

* Measure download, upload, ping and jitter in about 20 seconds
* Automatic background tests every 1 to 24 hours, with a speed-over-time chart

**Live speed in your top bar**

* Real-time download and upload speed next to the clock (Ubuntu, GNOME, XFCE, MATE)
* Always-on-top mini speed meter you can place anywhere

**Connection quality and outages**

* Latency, jitter and packet loss, measured continuously
* Outage log with notifications when your internet drops and comes back
* Wi-Fi details: network name, signal strength, 2.4/5/6 GHz band, channel and link rate

**Data usage**

* Daily and monthly usage, including traffic while SpeedX was closed
* Monthly data cap with billing day and warnings at 80% and 100%

**System monitor**

* CPU (per core, frequency, temperature), memory, disks and network graphs
* 30 days of history: see what happened while you were away
* Battery health, charge cycles, power draw and time remaining
* Process manager that groups processes by app, so you can close a whole app at once

Dark and light themes, launch at login, and no account needed. Your data stays
on your computer.

Some features need permissions that the Snap Store may not connect automatically:

sudo snap connect speedx:hardware-observe # CPU temperature and battery details
sudo snap connect speedx:system-observe # process list
sudo snap connect speedx:mount-observe # disk volumes
sudo snap connect speedx:process-control # ending processes
sudo snap connect speedx:network-manager-observe # Wi-Fi name, signal and band

## Enable snaps on openSUSE and install SpeedX - Realtime internet speed monitor

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.

Snaps are discoverable and installable from the [Snap Store](https://snapcraft.io/store), an app store with an audience of millions.

### Enable snapd

Snap can be installed from the command line on openSUSE Leap 15.x and Tumbleweed.

You need first add the *snappy* repository from the terminal. Choose the appropriate command depending on your installed openSUSE flavor.

Tumbleweed:

```
sudo zypper addrepo --refresh https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/system:/snappy/openSUSE_Tumbleweed snappy
```

Leap 15.x:

```
sudo zypper addrepo --refresh https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/system:/snappy/openSUSE_Leap_15.6 snappy
```

If needed, Swap out `openSUSE_Leap_15.` for, `openSUSE_Leap_16.0` if you’re using a different version of openSUSE.

With the repository added, import its GPG key:

```
sudo zypper --gpg-auto-import-keys refresh
```

Finally, upgrade the package cache to include the new *snappy* repository:

```
sudo zypper dup --from snappy
```

Snap can now be installed with the following:

```
sudo zypper install snapd
```

You then need to either reboot, logout/login or `source /etc/profile` to have /snap/bin added to PATH.
Additionally, enable and start both the *snapd* and the *snapd.apparmor* services with the following commands:

```
sudo systemctl enable --now snapd
sudo systemctl enable --now snapd.apparmor
```
