#### A countdown timer for the terminal with live progress

`timer-cli` runs countdowns in the terminal and keeps the end time, remaining time, and progress visible. Use the compact two-line display or switch to a fullscreen clock.

Start a timer with a short duration, combine several units, or use duration words:

```
$ timer-cli 10m
$ timer-cli 1h30m --title "Focus Session"
$ timer-cli 01:30:00
$ timer-cli 5 minutos --lang es
```

Choose the display and output that fit the job:

```
$ timer-cli 5m --fullscreen --controls
$ timer-cli 25m --loop
$ timer-cli 30s --json
```

While a timer is running, press `Space` to pause or resume, `R` to restart, `+` or `-` to adjust it by one minute, or `Q` to cancel. Completion alerts use the terminal bell and can be disabled or repeated.

The interface is available in English and Spanish. Duration words also work in Portuguese, French, German, Italian, and Dutch. Shell completion is available for Bash, Zsh, and Fish.

timer-cli runs in the foreground. It does not use a daemon, save timer history, access the network, collect telemetry, or execute commands.

## Enable snaps on elementary OS and install timer-cli

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.

Snaps are discoverable and installable from the [Snap Store](https://snapcraft.io/store), an app store with an audience of millions.

### Enable snapd

Snap can be installed on elementary OS from the command line. Open *Terminal* from the Applications launcher and type the following:

```
sudo apt update
sudo apt install snapd
```

Either log out and back in again, or restart your system, to ensure snap’s paths are updated correctly.

### Install timer-cli

To install timer-cli, simply use the following command:
