#### Implementation of the Bitwarden Server API, written in Rust

Vaultwarden is a Rust-based implementation of the Bitwarden® server API that provides compatibility with upstream Bitwarden® clients, perfect for self-hosted deployments where running the official resource-heavy service might not be ideal.

**Features**:

* Personal Vault
* Send
* Attachments
* Organizations
* Multi Factor Authentication
* Emergency Access
* Admin Backend
* ... and more!

Note: By default, Vaultwarden listens on `127.0.0.1:8000`. If you would like to modify this, edit the respective values via `/var/snap/vaultwarden/current/vaultwarden.conf`, and restart Vaultwarden: `sudo snap restart vaultwarden`

*Vaultwarden is not associated with or endorsed by Bitwarden® Inc.*

## Enable snaps on Debian and install Vaultwarden

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.

Snaps are discoverable and installable from the [Snap Store](https://snapcraft.io/store), an app store with an audience of millions.

### Enable snapd

On Debian 9 (Stretch) and newer, snap can be installed directly from the command line:

```
sudo apt update
sudo apt install snapd
```

After this, install the snapd snap in order to get the latest snapd:

```
sudo snap install snapd
```

### Install Vaultwarden

To install Vaultwarden, simply use the following command:

```
sudo snap install vaultwarden
```
