This is a snap that bundles PostgreSQL Server together with other tools of its ecosystem in order to be used in Charmed Operators, providing automated operations management from day 0 to day 2 on the PostgreSQL deployed on top of a Virtual Machine cluster and K8s cluster. It is an open source, end-to-end, production ready data platform on top of cloud native technologies.
PostgreSQL, also known as Postgres, is a free and open-source relational database management system emphasizing extensibility and SQL compliance. It was originally named POSTGRES, referring to its origins as a successor to the Ingres database.
For versions of Ubuntu between 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) and 15.10 (Wily Werewolf), as well as Ubuntu flavours that don’t include snap by default, snap can be installed from the Ubuntu Software Centre by searching for snapd.

sudo apt update
sudo apt install snapd
Either log out and back in again, or restart your system, to ensure snap’s paths are updated correctly.
