EmilDrive emulates Sega's classic consoles: Mega Drive / Genesis, Mega CD / Sega CD, 32X and Master System. It is free and open source, written from scratch by the author of EmilNES, with a clean, simple interface: pick a game from your library and play. The same version and the same features run on Linux, Mac, Windows and Android.
Made for using, not for fiddling
Your game library
While you play
Optional extras, all off by default: remastered music replayed with sampled real instruments (the sound effects stay original), and HD pixel art.
EmilDrive includes no games and no console BIOS files, and it does not fetch any: use games you own. Server passwords are kept in your desktop keyring (connect the snap's password-manager-service permission for that; otherwise they are kept in a private file).
How well does it run? Estimated share of games that are playable: about 95% of Mega Drive, Mega CD and 32X games and about 90% of Master System games, based on automated tests of 498 games and discs.

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.
Snaps are discoverable and installable from the Snap Store, an app store with an audience of millions.
If you’re running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) or later, including Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver) and Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa), you don’t need to do anything. Snap is already installed and ready to go.
For versions of Ubuntu between 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) and 15.10 (Wily Werewolf), as well as Ubuntu flavours that don’t include snap by default, snap can be installed from the Ubuntu Software Centre by searching for snapd.
Alternatively, snapd can be installed from the command line:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install snapd
Either log out and back in again, or restart your system, to ensure snap’s paths are updated correctly.
To install EmilDrive, simply use the following command:
sudo snap install emildrive
Browse and find snaps from the convenience of your desktop using the snap store snap.
