FreeCAD is a parametric 3D modeler. Parametric modeling allows you to easily modify your design by going back into your model history and changing its parameters. FreeCAD is open source (LGPL license) and completely modular, allowing for very advanced extension and customization.
FreeCAD is multiplatfom, and reads and writes many open file formats such as STEP, IGES, STL and others.

There are multiple maintained channels for this snap:
stable stable contains the latest upstream release, i.e. the most recent tagged commit. Use this if you don't know what you're doing.edge contains automated (daily) builds from the latest master commit. Use this to test new features. Might be unstable.beta contains automated weekly promotions from edge. Use this if you want edge with fewer updates.candidate contains release candidate (RC) builds. If you’re running Kubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) or later, including Kubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver) and Kubuntu 18.10 (Cosmic Cuttlefish), you don’t need to do anything. Snap is already installed and ready to go.
Versions of Kubuntu between 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) and 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) don’t include snap by default, but snap can be installed from the command line as follows:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install snapd
To install FreeCAD, simply use the following command:
sudo snap install freecad
Browse and find snaps from the convenience of your desktop using the snap store snap.
