The Snap Store will undergo scheduled database maintenance on July 5, 2026 22:00 to July 6, 02:00 UTC. During this time, you will not be able to install or update snaps. No user action is required and services will automatically resume once maintenance is complete.
Hermes is an autonomous AI agent that runs on your machine or server and becomes more capable over time through persistent memory and auto-generated skills.
It connects to 20+ messaging platforms (Telegram, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, Teams, and more) and executes tasks using 60+ built-in tools: web browsing, browser automation, code execution, file operations, scheduled jobs, and more.
Compatible with any OpenAI-compatible LLM — locally via Lemonade, Ollama, or a Canonical inference snap, or via cloud APIs such as OpenAI and Anthropic.
LOCAL AI
Run 'hermes-agent.inference-snap' to detect a Canonical inference snap (gemma4, gemma3, deepseek-r1, and others) and configure it as Hermes's default model in one step — fully offline, no API key required.
SETUP
Run the setup wizard on first launch:
hermes-agent setup
The background gateway service starts automatically the first time you run any hermes-agent command and is managed as a standard systemd user unit:
systemctl --user status hermes-agent systemctl --user stop hermes-agent
SECURITY NOTE
This tool is capable of executing code, accessing files, and interacting with external services on your behalf. Due to the nature of autonomous AI agents, we recommend installing and running this snap inside an LXD container as best practice. A container provides an extra layer of confinement, limiting the agent's reach to the container environment and reducing exposure to your host system and personal data.
lxc launch ubuntu:24.04 my-agent lxc exec my-agent -- snap install --classic hermes-agent

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.
Snaps are discoverable and installable from the Snap Store, an app store with an audience of millions.
Snap is available for CentOS 7.6+, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.6+, from the Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux (EPEL) repository. The EPEL repository can be added to your system with the following command:
sudo yum install epel-release
Snap can now be installed as follows:
sudo yum install snapd
Once installed, the systemd unit that manages the main snap communication socket needs to be enabled:
sudo systemctl enable --now snapd.socket
To enable classic snap support, enter the following to create a symbolic link between /var/lib/snapd/snap and /snap:
sudo ln -s /var/lib/snapd/snap /snap
Either log out and back in again, or restart your system, to ensure snap’s paths are updated correctly.
To install Hermes AI Agent, simply use the following command:
sudo snap install hermes-agent --candidate --classic
Browse and find snaps from the convenience of your desktop using the snap store snap.
