Kodi packaged for use with Ubuntu Frame on Ubuntu Core
For information on deploying an IoT GUI based on Ubuntu Frame see: https://mir-server.io/docs/how-to-guides
This snap will only work on Wayland compositors, but doesn't require Ubuntu Frame specifically. For example, it can be used on GNOME/Wayland by running mir-kiosk-kodi
, but that isn't the intended use.
When used on Ubuntu Core, mir-kiosk-kodi will automatically run as a daemon on startup. If building an embedded system based on another OS then you may need to enable the daemon with:
snap set mir-kiosk-kodi daemon=true

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.
Snaps are discoverable and installable from the Snap Store, an app store with an audience of millions.
Snap can be installed on Fedora from the command line:
sudo dnf install snapd
Either log out and back in again, or restart your system, to ensure snap’s paths are updated correctly.
To enable classic snap support, enter the following to create a symbolic link between /var/lib/snapd/snap
and /snap
:
sudo ln -s /var/lib/snapd/snap /snap
To install Kodi packaged as an IoT GUI, simply use the following command:
sudo snap install mir-kiosk-kodi
Browse and find snaps from the convenience of your desktop using the snap store snap.
