Note: By default, this snap uses the auth_socket plugin, similar to the deb version. Therefore, sudo is required to authenticate the MySQL root user.

To log in with a password instead (using mysql -u root -p), execute the following SQL statement (change YOUR_NEW_PASS below with a strong password):
ALTER USER 'root'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED WITH caching_sha2_password BY 'YOUR_NEW_PASS';

Snap can be installed on Fedora from the command line:
sudo dnf install snapd
Either log out and back in again, or restart your system, to ensure snap’s paths are updated correctly.
To enable classic snap support, enter the following to create a symbolic link between /var/lib/snapd/snap and /snap:
sudo ln -s /var/lib/snapd/snap /snap
To install MySQL Server, simply use the following command:
sudo snap install mysql-strict
