NetMode is a whitelist checker for Ubuntu and other Linux distributions. It checks public websites to detect whether your current connection only reaches sites in a whitelist or has broader internet access. See the result in a desktop window and system tray icon.
The Russia profile distinguishes no internet, government sites only, whitelist access, the Russian segment, full access within Russia, and broader access including sites normally blocked in Russia. The result is based on the selected test sites at the time of each check: it is an estimate, not a guarantee that every website will open.
Run checks manually or periodically, inspect each probe in Diagnostics, and use optional speed and technical tests. Available for x64 and ARM64, with English and Russian interfaces.
No account, advertising, analytics, telemetry or crash reporting. Checks go directly to anonymous public endpoints; those websites see your IP address as with a normal web request.
NetMode measures reachability. It does not bypass restrictions, provide a VPN or proxy, or change your network settings.

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.
Snaps are discoverable and installable from the Snap Store, an app store with an audience of millions.
If you’re running Kubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) or later, including Kubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver) and Kubuntu 18.10 (Cosmic Cuttlefish), you don’t need to do anything. Snap is already installed and ready to go.
Versions of Kubuntu between 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) and 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) don’t include snap by default, but snap can be installed from the command line as follows:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install snapd
To install NetMode: whitelist checker, simply use the following command:
sudo snap install netmode
Browse and find snaps from the convenience of your desktop using the snap store snap.
