Obscura keeps everything in one encrypted file on your own computer. There is no account, no server holding a copy, and no network code in the application at all.
The master password is stretched with Argon2id and every entry is encrypted with XChaCha20-Poly1305. Recovery codes are protected with a hybrid of X25519 and ML-KEM-768, standardised in FIPS 203.
The snap also includes the command line tool as obscura-vault.cli.

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.
Snaps are discoverable and installable from the Snap Store, an app store with an audience of millions.
On Debian 9 (Stretch) and newer, snap can be installed directly from the command line:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install snapd
After this, install the snapd snap in order to get the latest snapd:
sudo snap install snapd
To install Obscura Vault, simply use the following command:
sudo snap install obscura-vault --edge
Browse and find snaps from the convenience of your desktop using the snap store snap.
