Parquet Editor by Loam opens Apache Parquet files on your Linux desktop. Browse typed rows, search, filter and sort data, inspect column types and compression, edit supported values, and save or export local copies without creating an account.
This Linux release supports Snappy-compressed and uncompressed Parquet files; other codecs, including Zstandard, may be rejected. Edit supported typed values and write a Parquet copy. Editing and saving depend on the file schema and the active document mode; unsupported changes are blocked to protect the document. CSV and JSON export is available for fully decoded tables. Filtered and sorted views can be exported separately; saving a Parquet document retains its document rows. Keep a backup and verify saved output before relying on it.
Document processing takes place on your device. Routine analytics and diagnostics exclude file names, paths, schemas, column names, rows, cell values, file contents and SQL. Production builds send bounded application activity to PostHog and lifecycle/error diagnostics to Sentry. Reports include app/release information, fixed activity and outcome categories, a random app-scoped installation identifier stored locally and a fresh launch identifier. Person-profile creation is disabled. These reports expose ordinary network information; PostHog retains IP addresses and can derive approximate location. The app does not request precise device location.
If you choose Send request in Contact support, the reply email and message you enter are sent to PostHog support records. Opening or cancelling the form sends no request, and files are not automatically attached. See https://parquetfile.tools/privacy for the privacy disclosure and https://parquetfile.tools/support for help.
Snap permissions control file access. Use Open in the app if your file manager does not recognize the file type. The home permission permits ordinary non-hidden files you own in your home directory. For external drives under /media, /run/media or /mnt, connect the optional interface with: sudo snap connect parquet-editor:removable-media. If a selected destination cannot be written, keep your edits open and export a copy to an accessible home folder.
