Users of the Scalextric ARC powerbases can use the official app from Scalextric for managing a slot car race. But Scalextric has also made the documentation of the Scalextric ARC BLE protocol available to anyone that themselves want to develop a similar application. The documentation can be received by sending an e-mail to customerservices.uk@scalextric.com.
This little unofficial tool, the Scalextric ARC BLE Protocol Explorer, helps developers understand how the different parameters in the protocol actually works, so that it becomes easier to develop an application for the Scalextric ARC powerbases.
Once the application is installed, it will run as web server on port 3301, and autostart when you start your computer/device. You then use a modern web browser to access the functionality. Enter http://localhost:3301 in the web browser’s address bar if you’re accessing the application from the same computer/device as where you have it installed, otherwise replace localhost with the server's IP address.

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.
Snaps are discoverable and installable from the Snap Store, an app store with an audience of millions.
Snapd can be installed from Manjaro’s Add/Remove Software application (Pamac), found in the launch menu. From the application, search for snapd, select the result, and click Apply.
Alternatively, snapd can be installed from the command line:
sudo pacman -S snapd
Once installed, the systemd unit that manages the main snap communication socket needs to be enabled:
sudo systemctl enable --now snapd.socket
To enable classic snap support, enter the following to create a symbolic link between /var/lib/snapd/snap
and /snap
:
sudo ln -s /var/lib/snapd/snap /snap
Either log out and back in again, or restart your system, to ensure snap’s paths are updated correctly.
To install Scalextric ARC BLE Protocol Explorer, simply use the following command:
sudo snap install scalextric-arc-ble-protocol-explorer
Browse and find snaps from the convenience of your desktop using the snap store snap.
