Convenient full-system test (task) distribution
Spread Plus is a fork of Spread created to serve as a development and experimentation
ground for new ideas, features, and improvements that may later be proposed for inclusion
in the upstream Spread project.
While remaining fully compatible with existing Spread configurations, Spread Plus aims to
enhance the developer experience in several key areas:
. Improved debugging capabilities, offering more detailed logs, better traceability, and
clearer failure reporting to simplify test analysis and issue resolution.
. Enhanced CI integration, making it easier to connect Spread with modern continuous
integration systems and automate complex testing pipelines.
. Expanded backend availability, enabling tests to be executed on a wider range of
environments and targets, from virtualized systems to containerized and remote backends.
The primary goal of Spread Plus is to make the testing and validation workflow more transparent, reliable, and adaptable — without compromising compatibility with the original Spread framework. In practice, it acts as an innovation branch where new functionality is explored, validated, and refined before being proposed upstream.
