tailspin highlights log files without any setup. Dates, IP addresses, URLs, UUIDs, numbers, paths and keywords like ERROR or WARN are colored automatically. Output opens in a pager, or goes to stdout when piped.
Examples
tspin ./application.log
tspin --follow ./application.log
journalctl -f | tspin
The command is tspin, as upstream. If tspin is not found, run
tailspin.tspin or create the alias:
sudo snap alias tailspin.tspin tspin
File access
tailspin can read files in your home directory. To also read USB drives and other removable media (/media, /mnt), run:
sudo snap connect tailspin:removable-media
To read system logs in /var/log (for example /var/log/syslog), run:
sudo snap connect tailspin:log-observe

Snaps are applications packaged with all their dependencies to run on all popular Linux distributions from a single build. They update automatically and roll back gracefully.
Snaps are discoverable and installable from the Snap Store, an app store with an audience of millions.
Snap can be installed on elementary OS from the command line. Open Terminal from the Applications launcher and type the following:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install snapd
Either log out and back in again, or restart your system, to ensure snap’s paths are updated correctly.
To install tailspin, simply use the following command:
sudo snap install tailspin
Browse and find snaps from the convenience of your desktop using the snap store snap.
