Make HTTP requests and test APIs

Cartero is a graphical HTTP client that can be used as a developer tool to test web APIs and perform all kind of HTTP requests to web servers.

It is compatible with any REST, SOAP or XML-RPC API and it supports multiple request methods as well as attaching body payloads to compatible requests.

Features:

  • Loads and saves to plain Git-friendly TOML files, so that you can own your data.
  • Customization and modification of the request headers and body payloads.
  • Variable binding for API keys and any other information you don't want hardcoded.
  • Export your requests as cURL to repeat them in the command line.

Designed with API developers in mind. The file format is plain and is friendly with Git tools, so that you can version your API and track changes in a multi-user environment. Support for collections and other ways to organize groups of requests is on the works.

Cartero is local-first, respectful with your privacy and fully free software. No corporations, no accounts, no AI, no cloud subscriptions. Use it for free at home, at work or at school.
