Introduction
DevilutionX is a reimplementation of the engine that powers Blizzard's Diablo 1, developed by numerous highly dedicated [contributors](https://github.com/diasurgical/devilutionX/graphs/contributors) and by careful and deep analysis of the original game files. It allows you to play Diablo 1 on a wide variety of operating systems, including GNU/Linux.
Even though DevilutionX is an open source project, the Diablo 1 game files are not free and protected by Blizzard's copyright. Therefore, you need to provide your own legitimate copy of the game.
Usage
In order to play the game, you need to get a legitimate copy of the Diablo game files, either by copying them from an original game CD or by extracting them from the GoG.com version.
After installing DevilutionX, copy the file diabdat.mpq
from the Diablo game files to the following directory:
~/snap/devilutionx/common
Please ensure that the filename is lowercase only.
