Install latest/edge of minimal-snip
Ubuntu 16.04 or later?
Make sure snap support is enabled in your Desktop store.
Install using the command line
sudo snap install minimal-snip --edge

This package provides a command-line tool called minimal-snip which is a basic snipping tool. It offers a quick and hassle free way to capture paricular areas of the user's screen as chosen by the user and displays the resultant image in a compact and minimalistic format which always stays on top. The resultant snip can be dragged around and hidden.
