S3-compatible, high-performance object storage
RustFS is an open-source object storage server compatible with the Amazon S3 API. It supports versioning, object lock, encryption, lifecycle rules, replication, erasure coding and a web console, and can migrate data from other S3-compatible services such as MinIO and Ceph.
Getting started
The service starts right after installation. It listens on 127.0.0.1:9000 (S3 API) and 127.0.0.1:9001 (web console) and stores data in /var/snap/rustfs/common/data. Random credentials are generated at installation:
sudo cat /var/snap/rustfs/common/credentials/access-key
sudo cat /var/snap/rustfs/common/credentials/secret-key
To open it to your network:
sudo snap set rustfs address=:9000 console-address=:9001
The web console is at http://127.0.0.1:9001/rustfs/console/.
Storage on other drives
To store data on disks mounted under /media or /mnt:
sudo snap connect rustfs:removable-media
sudo snap set rustfs volumes=/mnt/disk1/rustfs
For erasure coding across several disks, also run:
sudo snap connect rustfs:mount-observe
sudo snap set rustfs volumes='/mnt/disk{1...4}/rustfs'
