sudonotes is a lightweight, local-first notebook designed specifically for organizing AI prompts, reusable templates, and brainstormed ideas.
Prompts often end up scattered across chat histories, scratch files, and abandoned docs. When you need them again, you rewrite them from scratch. sudonotes keeps your prompt engineering refined, links prompts to the ideas that motivated them, and lets you find them instantly.
### Key Features
Local-First & Privacy-Preserving Your notes are stored as plain Markdown files in a folder you choose on your local drive. No mandatory cloud accounts, no telemetry lock-in, and full offline capability.
Prompt Templates with {{placeholders}} Turn any prompt into a reusable template by adding {{variable}} syntax. The dynamic side panel extracts every variable into fillable fields, letting you generate finished prompts with Copy Filled without modifying your template.
Idea Bubbles & Model Matching Split brainstorming notes into focused blocks ("bubbles"). Aim specific thinking steps at different LLMs using a live catalog of models, context windows, and capabilities.
Project Linking & IDEAS.md Mirroring Link an idea note to any software repository on your machine. sudonotes automatically maintains an up-to-date IDEAS.md in your project root for human collaborators and local coding agents (Cursor, Claude Code, Aider).
Fast SQLite FTS5 Search Search across your entire vault with Ctrl+K. Ranked full-text search prioritizes titles over passing mentions with zero perceptible latency.
Bi-Directional [[Wiki-Links]] & ((Page-References)) Connect related notes with double-bracket links and track dependencies via the Linked From backlinks panel.
Minimalist & Lightweight Built with Tauri on your native system webview. The package is ~20MB, starts instantly, and consumes a fraction of the RAM of Electron-based apps.
