Free HTTP and REST request tool for testing and exploring APIs

Headrest is a simple tool to make API calls from your machine or any other kinds of HTTP calls. It's simple to use, free and supports:

  • all HTTP(S) methods (like GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, OPTIONS etc)
  • customising URL, headers and query params
  • sending a custom payload (or body)
  • sending a form (application/x-www-form-urlencoded)
  • variables set statically and dynamically
  • support for environments
  • pretty printing the JSON response
  • a code editor for JSON and XML request payloads
  • organising requests in projects and folders
  • autosaving all your data

It's very useful at testing your own APIs while building them or exploring other APIs while learning how you could use them.

It saves time from using other tools like curl and helps building more complex flows that rely on variables and environments.
