The official reference frontend for the libretro API

While RetroArch is most commonly associated with retro gaming emulation, a variety of programs focused on gaming, retro-computing and multimedia have been ported to the libretro API, and these cores are compatible, as well. RetroArch features a couch- and gamepad-friendly "10-foot" interface and community-driven translations into many languages.

RetroArch focuses on having low-latency input and video output, full control of the video and audio presentation through its shader and audio DSP pipelines, respectively, lag-hiding multiplayer netplay, and automatic configuration/mapping of hundreds of gamepads through a community-driven repository, among other advanced features.

On the backend, RetroArch is written almost entirely in high-performance C, with a focus on portability and backwards compatibility.
