Unofficial Claude AI Wrapper – Modern Desktop Client for Linux

A fast desktop app for Claude AI - no browser needed. Use Claude directly from your desktop, distraction-free and always at hand.

If you are using VPN, activate Tunnel-Splitting for Claude AI Desktop.

What's new in v1.4.8:

  • Cloudflare verification fix - The browser identity the app sent in its request headers no longer contradicts what its JavaScript engine reports (a forged "Google Chrome" brand that could loop the Cloudflare "Verifying..." check), and the non-default Do Not Track header is gone.
  • Reset that actually works - "Reset claude.ai verification" now fully clears the session instead of only part of it, and it sits as a shield button in the toolbar; the stuck-verification banner also appears faster, after 8s instead of 18s.
  • Redesigned What's-new window - The update overview is now a slideshow, one slide per change, navigable with next/back, dots or arrow keys, with room for a screenshot.
  • Network note - A persistent loop is almost always your network address (IP reputation), which no client change can override; an active VPN is often the cause, so turning it off for claude.ai usually resolves it.

Core features:

  • Tab system with its own tab bar (Ctrl+T, Ctrl+W, Ctrl+Tab); frameless main window with Minimize/Maximize/Close in the tab bar itself
  • Light, Dark and OLED themes plus two design variants (Modern, Classic)
  • System Tray with optional minimize-to-tray
  • Global Quick-Prompt Hotkey - frameless prompt window drops your text straight into a new chat from any app
  • Voice Input - record voice messages directly in claude.ai
  • OAuth logins in-app - Google, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Microsoft and custom connectors
  • MCP connectors - custom and built-in connectors load and sign in correctly in claude.ai
  • Markdown export of conversations (Ctrl+Shift+E)
  • Prompt templates for the Quick-Prompt window
  • Background reply notifications when Claude finishes answering
  • Clipboard & screenshot hotkeys to start a chat from selection or an image
  • In-app Bug Report form in DE/EN/FR/IT, themed to match the app
  • Auto-update synced with the GitHub Release
  • Window memory, crash recovery, offline page, download manager, autostart, sandbox enabled

Snap permissions:

For Voice Input, connect the audio-record interface once:

 sudo snap connect claude-ai-desktop:audio-record

For attaching and saving files outside your home folder (external drives, /media), connect removable-media:

 sudo snap connect claude-ai-desktop:removable-media

The in-app wizard guides you through the microphone permission on first use.
