Unofficial Claude AI Wrapper – Modern Desktop Client for Linux

A fast desktop app for Claude AI - no browser needed. Use Claude directly from your desktop, distraction-free and always at hand.

What's new in v1.4.3:

  • New logo and refreshed themes - A new spark logo across the app, and the three themes (Light, Dark, OLED) were rebuilt and cleanly separated. The background gradients are gone everywhere (menus, sub-windows and the chat), since many people didn't like them. Light is now a neutral white without the former reddish tint, and OLED is a consistent deep black with a few subtle stars in the background.
  • Theme is in place at startup - The theme now applies immediately when the app starts and when you open a new tab, instead of building up a moment after the page paints.
  • Custom connectors connect again - The sign-in popup for a custom MCP connector now opens inside the app, so the OAuth callback reaches claude.ai instead of getting lost in the system browser.
  • Snap: attaching and saving files - File dialogs and saving downloads now go through the system file portal, so you can reach files outside your home folder and on external drives (connect the removable-media plug, see below).
  • Updated foundation - Built on the latest Electron 41 with the current Chromium security fixes.

Earlier highlights (v1.4.0 - v1.4.2):

  • Italian and French (v1.4.2) - The interface is also available in Italian and French; it follows your system language and falls back to English.
  • OLED theme (v1.4.0) - The sun/moon icon in the tab bar cycles Light, Dark and OLED.
  • Frameless window (v1.4.0) - The system title bar is replaced by the tab bar itself, with Minimize, Maximize and Close on the right; all dialogs use the same compact title bar.

Core features:

  • Tab system with its own tab bar (Ctrl+T, Ctrl+W, Ctrl+Tab); frameless main window with Minimize/Maximize/Close in the tab bar itself
  • Light, Dark and OLED themes plus two design variants (Modern, Classic)
  • System Tray with optional minimize-to-tray
  • Global Quick-Prompt Hotkey - frameless prompt window drops your text straight into a new chat from any app
  • Voice Input - record voice messages directly in claude.ai
  • OAuth logins in-app - Google, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Microsoft and custom connectors
  • MCP connectors - custom and built-in connectors load and sign in correctly in claude.ai
  • Markdown export of conversations (Ctrl+Shift+E)
  • Prompt templates for the Quick-Prompt window
  • Background reply notifications when Claude finishes answering
  • Clipboard & screenshot hotkeys to start a chat from selection or an image
  • In-app Bug Report form in DE/EN/FR/IT, themed to match the app
  • Auto-update synced with the GitHub Release
  • Window memory, crash recovery, offline page, download manager, autostart, sandbox enabled

Snap permissions:

For Voice Input, connect the audio-record interface once:

 sudo snap connect claude-ai-desktop:audio-record

For attaching and saving files outside your home folder (external drives, /media), connect removable-media:

 sudo snap connect claude-ai-desktop:removable-media

The in-app wizard guides you through the microphone permission on first use.
